Aireys Inlet - Holiday Activities, Tours, Attractions, Entertainment, Guides
- Where to Go, What to See and Do
The holiday town of Aireys Inlet is situated on the scenic Great Ocean Road, about 120 km southwest of Melbourne, between the larger centres of Lorne and Anglesea, and ideally situated between the bushland of the Otway Ranges and the rugged coastline. It provides the best of both worlds - visitors have to decide each day whether it is to be bush or beach. Aireys Inlet connects to Fairhaven Beach, which is a popular surfing location. Painkalac Creek, which separates Fairhaven from Aireys Inlet, forms a tidal lagoon or inlet behind the sand dunes. There is a curved reef at Step Beach which forms an excellent swimming hole at low tide. The main attraction at Aireys Inlet is the Split Point Lighthouse which overlooks the inlet. There are many bush walking tracks around the lighthouse which offer scenic views all along the coast. The Great Otway National Park, located inland from Aireys Inlet, features waterfalls, wonderful bushwalking, fern gullies, and the steep timbered ridges covered with forest. Aireys Inlet has outstanding attractions and a wonderful array of recreational attractions, including: Secluded beaches, walks in the wilderness, great pub with scenic views, fantastic restaurants, go surfing or fishing, horse riding, kyaking and canoeing, enjoy luxury massage, go bird watching or hang gliding over stunning Fairhaven beach. There is a wide array of holiday accommodation including apartments, flats, units, house and resorts.
