Airlie Beach is the popular gateway for backpackers and holiday makers to the magical Whitsundays group of continental islands, resorts and wonderful cruises, yacht charters and diving trips on the magnificent Great Barrier Reef south of Bowen. Airlie Beach is a very attractive place to stay with a thriving town centre, lots of entertainment, attractive parklands, good facilities and two beautiful marinas at Shute Harbour and Abel Point. The beach at Airlie is small, but it is very attractive and lined with trees. It is a great place to lazy on the beach and relaxing with your friends. There are many other magnificent, secluded beaches along the coast only a few kilometres away away. The area has a fantastic water-based attractions and activities in this area including fishing, fishing charters, canoeing, kayaking, wind surfing, sailing boating and snorkelling and scuba diving (including diving course and resort dives). Onshore there is sky diving, horse riding, and bushwalking through the local Conway National Park and other reserve areas. Many operators offer bare-boat yacht charters or you can join a live-aboard yacht cruise or diving adventure, staying on board for up to seven days cruising among the islands. There is a wide range of accommodation at Airlie Beach and in the towns nearby Cannonvale and Shute Harbour and on the Whitsunday Islands.
