Ardrossan is a small rural service and tourism town located on the East Coast of the Yorke Peninsula, about 150 km northwest from Adelaide, South Australia. Ardrossan is one of the largest of the ports on the Yorke Peninsula with a major jetty and facilities for bulk loading wheat and grain and also dolomite. Ardrossan is very popular for week-end getaways and holidays with wonderful boating, swimming and fishing for crabs and various fin-fish species. There is a wide range of accommodation and excellent facilities. The famous shipwreck of the Zanoni, which sank in 1867, is located about 20 km offshore is very popular for scuba diving. Some o the local attractions include: # Ardrossan and District Historical Museum # The Stump Jump Plough # Dolomite and Salt Mines # Pine Point, located about 15 km south of Ardrossan, has a long sandy beach which is ideal for walking, fishing, swimming and relaxing.
