Austinmer Beach has beautiful rock pools to explore, fantastic swimming and surfing, and the beach has a large grassy area under pine trees that provides shade for play and picnics. The beach is about 200 m long and lies between two low headlands with two ocean pools located on the southern rock platforms below the headland. The beach is patrolled by lifesavers from September to April and is great for fishing. There are very good facilities with cafes close by, a car park, kiosk, public toilets, picnic facilities, BBQs and tables and playground equipment. Inland dense forest covered slopes rise to the grandeur of the Illawarra Escarpment. This area has many excellent walking tracks and you can climb to the cliff top where you can enjoy stunning views from Sublime Point and Bulli Lookout. There is a wide range of beachside accommodation in Austinmer, which has the facilities to support many holiday activities.
