Ballina in Northern New South Wales is an ideal holiday destination that has it all! The town lies at the mouth of the Richmond River and is surrounded by water - with ocean, estuary, river, lakes and beautiful coastline all available nearby. Ballina is ideal for a host of holiday and recreational activities including fishing, kayaking, canoeing, hire boats, cruises, swimming, surfing, sailing, boating of all types and simply relaxing or playing at the beach. The most popular beaches are Lighthouse Beach and Shelly Beach, which is patrolled during the summer months. Shaws Bay Lagoon just inside the river mouth is very popular for swimming and family activities. The fishing is superb with all types available - boat, beach, breakwater, and the local Coop has outstanding fresh fish available if you are unsuccessful! Ballina has fantastic recreational and holiday facilities and lots of accommodation to choose from. To the north is world famous Byron Bay with all its exciting activities. The popular Lake Ainsworth is nearby, and to the south are the beautiful coastal landscapes of Broadwater National Park. There are always many things to do and see in Ballina.
