Barnes Bay is both a coastal feature and a small tourist town located at the northern end of Bruny Island, which lies offshore from the South East Coast of Tasmania. Bruny Island is accessible by ferry from Kettering, with about nine return trips each day. The scenic area of Barnes Bay extends from the Channel near Robert`s Point, where the ferry lands, around to the channel near Woodcutter`s Point. The area has rich oyster beds and wonderful fishing from the beach, shore, jetty or boat. Barnes Bay is also ideal for boating and sailing and is one of the safest anchorages in Tasmania. The Barnes Bay Regatta held in February / March each year. There is a wide range of accommodation on the waterfront at Barnes Bay.
