Beaconsfield lies in the heart of an apple-growing district, the Tamar Valley Wine Region and the Tamar River has many oyster leases. There is also a major gold mine at Beaconsfield - where two miners Brant Webb and Todd Russell were trapped by an underground rockfall, but were rescued 9 days later on May 9, 2006.Visit the Grubb Shaft Museum Complex, which is a museum complex focused on gold mining period between 1877 and 1914. The complex includes a miner`s cottage, the Flowery Gully School, a shop from the period and the original Tasmania Gold Mine.
