Ben Lomond National Park is a large plateau on top of sheer cliffs that can be seen over much of the northern midlands of Tasmania in the North Central Region, located 50 km. from Launceston. The plateau is about 6 km wide and 14 km long, and over of 1300 m high. The summit on the plateau named Legges Tor, at 1572 m high, is the second highest point in Tasmania. Ben Lomond is the main location for downhill skiing in Tasmania. The Ben Lomond National Park provides for conservation of the unique and diverse flora and fauna communities of the alpine areas. The area also has a stunning variety of periglacial and glacial features which are of national significance. There are 6 unpowered camp sites suitable for tents or campervans are available inside the park and remote camping is permitted anywhere in the park in locations no closer than 500 m from the road. The Creek Inn at the ski village, is open year round and has 5 ensuite rooms and one self-contained studio apartment, as well as also a licensed restaurant and bar.
