Visit the Avondale Discovery Farm that features an agricultural museum, homestead and stables and gives wonderful opportunity to visit a working farm. For flying enthusiasts you will revel in the experience of soaring across the countryside in a glider, or visiting the Beverley Aeronautical Museum. For a taste of friendly country hospitality you can stay in the historic Hotel, or at one of the many Bed and Breakfasts and Farmstay properties in the Avon Valley. Wheat and sheep are the dominant local industries. Located about 10 km to the northwest of the town is the Avondale Agricultural Research Station which has a fascinating collection of historical farm machinery. The station welcomes visitors and hosts several events during the year, including the Ploughing Days in June.
