Bickley is a suburb in the Perth Hills Region Western Australia, located within the Shire of Kalamunda. Bickley is the home of the famous Perth Observatory which is one of the oldest operating observatories in Australia. Day time tours of the observatory are available on Sundays. You will hear a talk from a local astronomer and you can visit the museum. The night tours involve telescope viewing. Bickley is surrounded by National Parks, vineyards in the Bickley Valley District and horse properties. The nearby Bickley Reservoir is a popular spot for day trips from Perth. There are excellent facilities including barbecues, toilets and change rooms. There are many bushwalks in the area including the 27 km long Kattamordo Heritage Trail which begins at Mundaring Weir and continues to the Bickley Reservoir following old railway tracks.
