Birregurra is a small rural town in the Barwon River valley located about18 km east of Colac, which has many interesting historic buildings. Birregurra is surrounded Mount Gellibrand and the spectacular Otway Ranges, and there is picturesque public golf course laid out along the Barwon River. Birregurra celebrates every year in October at the Birregurra Weekend Festival. The nearby Lake Colac is popular for fishing and all types of water sports. A short drive to the north is Winchelsea and Barwon Park, a 42-room, bluestone mansion built in 1869.
