You can access the Black River itself through the Peggs Creek camping area situated on the eastern side of the river. The area is very popular for fishing with most shore anglers focusing on the areas near the mouth, while boat anglers follow the tide upstream. The most popular lures are silver wobblers, bib lures and plastics, and bait used is pilchards, and squid. Good catches of flathead, pike, couta, tailor and large sea-run trout are also frequently caught. There is a lovely picnic area on the banks of the peaceful Black River.
