The small tourist town of Boat Harbour in the North West Region of Tasmania is located about 15 km from Wynyard, 30 km from Burnie and 183 km northwest of Launceston. The area at Boat Harbour has two small centres - the elevated town itself, and the beach community at sea level, nestled between rocky headlands. Boat Harbour is renowned for its beautiful beach, which is a great spot for swimming and surfing with local board hire available. To the west is the Rocky Cape National Park, which is a 3000 hectare reserve with coastal heathlands, magnificent cliff formations, many excellent bushwalks, basic camping facilities, and spectacular displays of wildflowers in Spring. Near the park are the Birdland Native Gardens, which have numerous nature bushwalks and a wonderful and diverse array of birds. Also close by is the renowned Sisters Beach, where you can enjoy a picnic, safe swimming and relaxing on the secluded white sandy beaches. Boat Harbour is also popular for scuba diving and snorkeling with the area around the headland a very popular spot. There is a wide range of places to stay at Boat Harbour.
