Broome is a tourist and pearling town in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia, located about 2200 km north of Perth. . There are many wonderful tropical sandy beaches around Broome, including the renowned Cable Beach. Broome has a cosmopolitan community and a fascinating multi-cultural heritage. There are a few pearling vessels nut nothing like the number in the past. Take the Broome Heritage Trail to learn about the fascinating heritage of Broome history and visit the Broome Historical Society Museum and Pearl Luggers. You can also visit the old part of Broome along Carnarvon Street, which is known as Chinatown. The famous Cable Beach with its broad white sand and clear waters is the main swimming beach in Broome and is the focus for many other activities including Camel Rides. There is 4WD access to the beach at the northern end. Local features at Cable beach include the `Staircase to the Moon` (which is the refection of the moon on the mud flats), Gantheaume Point and Anastasia`s Pool. Another favourite beach is Roebuck Bay, which is home to the fabulous Broome Bird Observatory. Broome, with its international airport, is the gateway to the Kimberley Region and it will reward you with a unique holiday experience like no other.
