Caves Beach is an ideal surfing beach and holiday destination located south of Swansea and Swansea Heads and directly east of Lake Macquarie. Caves Beach is patrolled by the local Surf Life Saving Club the beach during the summer months. Caves Beach is fantastic for swimming and surfing and exploring the unique caves and extensive rock pools. Some of the other beaches nearby include Blacksmiths Beach, Hams Beach and Catherine Hill Bay, which provide other options for swimming, surfing, windsurfing and just playing or walking on the beach under a variety of conditions. There is excellent fishing from the rocks, headlands and beaches and also at Swansea Heads, which lies at the mouth of Lake Macquarie. Boats are available for hire for cruising and fishing on the Lake.
