Charlotte Pass Village is very exclusive and intimate with less than 15 club lodges and the Kosciusko Chalet. The low numbers mean that lift lines are minimal. Charlotte Pass was named after Charlotte Adams, the first woman to climb Mt. Kosciuszko when she joined her father, a surveyor, on a trip to the summit in February 1881. The Kosciusko Chalet was established in 1930 and is where modern skiing began in Australia. The whole emphasis at the Charlotte Pass Ski Resort is on ski fun for all the family at an affordable price. Charlotte Pass is close to Mt. Kosciuszko and in winter the access road to is covered in snow and only accessible by over-snow vehicles. Charlotte Pass is also worth visiting in summer via a 40 minute along Kosciuszko Road, passing through Perisher Village. Charlotte Pass is the start for a 9km, each way walk to the top of Mount Kosciuszko. The Main Range Walk, 22km in total, takes several hours to complete and winds on a loop past spectacular glacial lakes to Mount Kosciuszko, with views across to the Victorian Alps. Charlotte Pass is a great place for a holiday with so many attractions and activities to see and do in both summer and winter in the Snowy Mountains.
