Coles Bay lies at the base of the spectacular granite mountains known as the Hazards on the East Coast of Tasmania. Coles Bay is the gateway to the world-famous Freycinet National Park and renowned Wineglass Bay, located about 45 minutes from Swansea, 30 minutes from Bicheno, and two and a half hours drive from Launceston and Hobart. Wineglass Bay was voted as one of the top 10 Beaches in the World by US travel magazines and by Getaway (Channel 9) as one of the top 10 beaches in Australia. Wineglass Bay features a stunning curve of white sand, fringed by rugged red granite mountains and surrounded by blue sea and skies, forming a stunning picture postcard destination. Coles Bay is wonderful place for water sports and fabulous fishing. The Freycinet National Park includes the Friendly Beaches north of Coles Bay, Freycinet Peninsula and Schouten Island off its southern tip. The town of Coles Bay overlooks the beautiful clear waters of Oyster Bay, which are ideal for swimming, kayaking, ocean cruises, canoeing, snorkelling, boating and fishing. Accommodation in Coles Bay or Freycinet ranges from luxury holiday house accommodation, caravan parks, wilderness camping areas and self-catering houses, villas and units.
