Corinna is a small historic mining and tourist town located in rainforest on the banks of the magnificent Pieman River in the North West Region of Tasmania. Corinna is located about 130 km from Burnie. Corinna is famous as being the site where Tasmania`s largest gold nugget was found. There are many wonderful walks in the area including the Huon Pine Walk along the scenic Pieman River, The Savage River Walk, the renowned Whyte River Walk and the spectacular climb up Mount Donaldson. You can enjoy a wonderful stay at the Tarkine Hotel with its Tannin Restaurant, or stay at or a stately guesthouse or one of the restored miners` cottages. You can take the Pieman River Cruise to see the breathtaking rainforest along a tour that extends to the Great Southern Ocean. Corinna is located at the southern end of the Tarkine protected area, the largest temperate rainforest in Australia. Within the Tarkine, and immediately north of Corinna, is the renowned Arthur Pieman Conservation Area, containing breathtaking wilderness areas, highly diverse habitats and ecosystems, significant aboriginal cultural heritage and spectacular coastal landscapes.
