Derwent Bridge is a small town near the magnificent Lake St Clair in the Derwent Valley and highlands Region of Tasmania, located about 83 km east of Queenstown and 170 km northwest of Hobart. Derwent Bridge is the gateway to all the delights of Lake St Clair. In 1982 the Franklin-Lower Gordon Wild Rivers National Park and the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park were granted World Heritage Listings. There is a wide range of places to stay in the Derwent River area including chalets, bed and breakfasts, hotels and backpackers. This area is also renowned for its bushwalking and fly fishing for trout and there are dozens of nearby lakes to choose from.
