Dongara is located about 360 km north from Perth on the Brand Highway, and with Port Denison is well know for excellent fishing, boating, crayfishing, wildflower display in Spring and a friendly atmosphere for holiday makers. There is a wide range of places to stay ranging from budget backpackers and caravan parks to luxury four and a half star resorts, beautiful bed and breakfasts and luxury beach houses. There is fantastic fishing along all the beaches from Nine Mile beach (which has 4WD access) in the north to Sandy Bay in the south. Fishing is also popular in the river, estuary, groin and from the town jetty.
