The quirky holiday village of Doo Town is located on the Tasman Peninsula, located about 80 km southeast from Hobart near Eaglehawk Neck, on the route to the Blowhole and the Devil`s Kitchen is. The origin of the name Doo Town dates back to the 1830s when it was a timber station, but in 1935 Eric Round, a Hobart architect began a tradition that still continues today when he placed the name plate `Doo I` at his Pirate`s Bay weekender shack. A series of cottage names were applied to other holiday houses such as `Doo-Me`, `Doo-Us`, `Doo-All`, `Doo Little`, etc. There is one nonconforming house in the town, named Medhurst. Doo Town overlooks the southern end of Pirate Bay not far from the Port Arthur Historic Site. Local attractions include: # Eaglehawk Neck # Tessellated Pavement # The Blowhole # Tasmans Arch # Devil`s Kitchen.
