Dora Creek is a small holiday and weekend getaway town close to the western shore of Lake Macquarie and is named for the creek passing through the centre of the town. It is renowned for its beautiful scenery, excellent facilities and close proximity to the Watagan Mountains. You can visit historic Cooranbong with its colourful craft and art galleries. Just north is the town of Wangi Wangi, home of the famous artist William Dobell, where he lived from 1942 to 1970. The nearby Watagans National Park is very popular camping area and features large forest area, excellent walking trails, picnic areas and lookouts. There is a range of waterfront accommodation at Dora Creek and in the nearby towns.
