Dunalley is a small fishing village established the man-made Denison Canal, about halfway between Hobart and Port Arthur. This canal was established to provide easier access to the east coast of Tasmania from Hobart. The Denison Canal cuts through the narrow neck of land that connects the Tasmanian mainland with the Forestier Peninsula. The Denison canal, has a swing bridge for road traffic that is swung aside to allows boats to pass between the two bays. The area is known for its beautiful landscape and stunning waterways.
