East Ballina lies on the northern side of the mouth of the Richmond River. It is surrounded by water and boasts a wide array of facilities for many of water based activities. There are many fine beaches and good boat ramps in the area for boating. The most popular beach is Shelly Beach, which is patrolled during the summer months. There are many wonderful beaches along the northern stretch of coastline from East Ballina to Lennox Head, and further on to the renowned Byron Bay. All the recreational and entertainment facilities of Ballina are only 10 minutes away.
