Eighty Mile Beach is a famous destination in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia located about half way between Port Hedland and Broome. As the name suggests, the beach is 80 miles or 130 km long. A remote caravan park on the beach at Eighty Mile Beach, some 10 km from the Great Northern Highway, is a very popular tourist stop. Eighty Mile Beach is famous for its fishing and shell collecting and its seclusion. Eighty Mile Beach is an important wetland that is used as a resting and feeding ground for migratory birds. The area supports about 500,000 of these migratory waders, from 20 species that visit the area each year. The beach is a wonderful fishing destination.
