Elliott Heads has a scenic caravan reserve which boasts excellent camping and caravan sites and cabins. Close by is the little town of Riverview, located on the northern bank of the estuary, which is a favourite fishing spot. You can hire a boat at the local shop. Relax on the sheltered and patrolled sandy beach, go kayaking, fishing and swimming in the river. Recreational activities include: surfing, jet-skiing, sail-boarding, scuba diving and snorkeling and you can charter tinnies and kayaks for exploring and fishing. There are some golf courses in the area. The shoreline in the area is part of the Woongarra National Marine Park and the fantastic dive sites in the locality include the Cochrane Artificial Reef, which lies only about 3 km offshore and the the Barolin Rocks. Elliott Heads is the gateway to the magical Southern Sections of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. You can join day cruises to Lady Elliot Island and Lady Musgrave Island.
