Evandale is a National Trust classified Georgian village in the North Central Region of Tasmania, on the South Esk River, located about 20 km south of Launceston and 5 km from the main highway and Launceston Airport. Evandale has a wonderful array of superb historic buildings in original condition that showcase the heritage of the area. Evandale is home to the world-famous events of The National Penny Farthing Championship and The Glover Prize . The antique galleries, craft shops and Sunday Markets are also very popular and feature more than 100 stalls of crafts, collectibles, art, food and amusements. The Evandale Light Railway Society runs trains linked with the market twice a month. The Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company sells delicious berry, pasta and chocolate sauces, and also many relishes and chutneys. Visit Clarendon House is one of Australia`s greatest Georgian houses which has formal gardens and grounds, Italianate facade, a tree lined avenue, restored early colonial outbuildings. There are more than 38 historic buildings and sites of historic significance in the town and over 70 in the district. Nile is the tiny village on the Nile River, 13 km south Evandale that has many fascinating historic buildings.
