Evans Head is a favourite holiday and fishing village located at the entrance to the Evans River on the northern coast of NSW south of Ballina and Byron Bay. Evans Head is an important port for recreational vessels, sailing boats, prawn and fishing trawlers. Fresh prawns and fish are always available from the local coop. It has great surf beaches, excellent fishing of all types, charter boats and excellent family and recreational facilities. The long secluded surfing beaches are very popular both by angling, boating and surfing. The main surfing beach, north of the breakwater, is patrolled during the summer months. The favourite surfing spot is at Goanna Headland. There are also safe shallow beaches in the Evans River estuary that are ideal for children and swimming. The Broadwater and Bundjalung National Parks have many nature trials and many secluded and isolated beaches to explore.
