Fingal is a small rural service centre and tourist town in North East Tasmania, located about 110 km south-east of Launceston in the beautiful Esk Valley. To the west is the town of Perth, to the northwest is Ben Lomond National Park, and to the east is Saint Marys. Fingal and is the centre of Tasmania`s coal industry and was a gold mining area. The main local industries are Forestry Tasmania, Cornwall Coal Mines and Agriculture - which includes cattle, sheep and various plant crops such as Poppies, wheat and potatoes. Local attractions include fishing, the golf course, picnic sites, bushwalking, Evercreech Forest Reserve, Mathinna Falls, camping, fossicking. Bushwalks in Summer and Snow skiing in Winter and 4WD adventures are popular in the Ben Lomond National Park. Fingal provides an ideal central base to stay and enjoy the many attractions of North East Tasmania. Fingal has a number of historic buildings including: two Georgian houses - Malahide and Tullochgoram, the Holder Brothers Store, which dates from 1859, the old Tasmania Hotel, which is now the local Tourist Centre and sells arts and crafts, the Fingal Hotel and St Peter`s Anglican Church.
