The rural service town and tourist centre of Finley is located about 670 south-west of Sydney. The town, which is located in the Murray River region of New South Wales, about 20km north of the Victorian-NSW border. The name Finley was derived from the name of the original Riverina surveyor, F.G.Finley. The town services towns in the Berriquin Irrigation Area that is focused on wool, vegetables, cereals, wheat, rice, dairy products, fat lambs, cattle and pigs. The Finley Lake shoreline features a boat ramp, a pool, a wharf, gardens and a beautiful picnic area. The playground centres for kids is based on a scaled model of a sailing ship. Finley Lake provides an excellent location for a wide variety water sports including fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking and other forms of boating. Mulwala Canal which is the main supply channel for the Berriquin Irrigation Area has a length of 155 km,that makes it longest channel in Australia.
