Gascoyne Junction is a small tourist town in the Gascoyne / Coral Coast Region of Western Australia, located about 100 km inland from Carnarvon at the junction of the and Lyons and Gascoyne Rivers. Gascoyne Junction is a service town for the local mining, farming and sheep grazing industries. Close by are the Kennedy Ranges that extends for 90 km north and features spectacular cliffs and canyons, natural springs and diverse flora and fauna. Gascoyne Junction is the gateway to the magnificent Mount Augustus National Park where Mount Augustus (twice the size of Uluru (Ayers Rock)) rises about 1106 m above sea level. The granite slopes of Mount Augustus have an unusual stepped formation. The town has a unique and historic Aussie pub and you can stay at the pub or at several farmstays in the area. There is a Museum that displays the region`s heritage.
