Gosford is located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia, approximately 100km north of the Sydney. Gosford is perfectly placed at the northern end of Brisbane Water, an extensive water way that is part of Broken Bay and the drowned river valley of the Hawkesbury River Estuary. Gosford is the administrative centre of the Central Coast region. Gosford is surrounded by many popular holiday destinations on Brisbane Water, Broken Bay and the superb array of beaches along the coast making it a conveniently base for visitors to the region. The area also features a number of National Parks and Nature Reserves. Katandra and Rumbalara Reserves adjacent to Gosford are very popular major attractions with excellent bushwalking and picnicking areas. Brisbane Water National Park has numerous bushwalks through open woodland and subtropical rainforest in the steep sandstone landscapes with cabbage tree palms, tree ferns, rock orchids, elkhorns, wildflowers, mangroves and wetlands. Australian native plants, animals and birdlife abound in the park. The park is very popular for fishing, nature appreciation, picnics, barbecues. There is a large and exciting range of activities in and around Gosford, from a quiet cruise around the beautiful Brisbane Waters, sailing, a fishing charter, surfing or the thrill of a paintball skirmish and other extreme sports.
