The Gove Peninsula is situated on the northeastern corner of Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. It is a remote and rugged area, fringed with magnificent white sandy beaches and featuring sparkling blue waters, offshore islands, magnificent scenic landscapes and lush vegetation. The Peninsula is renowned for its fishing, boating and sailing. The peninsula is accessible by 4WD vehicles from Oenpelli via Jabiru, via a 30 minute charter flight from Darwin or by boat. Accommodation is available at the luxury eco-resort of Peppers Seven Spirit Bay, at Cape Don and other locations. Campsites and cabins are available at Smith Point. The Peninsula is the perfect destination for bushwalking and birdwatching. The mining and tourist town of Nhulunbuy, is located on the Gove Peninsula, about 600 km east of Darwin. It is a major service centre for the local industries and tourists, providing accommodation and supplies, and it offers spectacular beaches, wonderful baoting and sailing and great fishing. Nhulunbuy and the Gove Peninsula have a wide range of attractions and support many activities such as sightseeing, sailing, kayaking, fishing, diving, boating, ecotourism, cultural tours, 4 wheel driving or camping on the beautiful beaches. Gove is a favourite stop-off point for yacht enthusiasts cruising the Top End.
