The Grassy Head area is a secluded, friendly holiday town on the mid North Coast of New South Wales about 50 km north of Kempsey. The scenic landscape, rainforest, beaches, abundant fish, great surf, nature reserves, wildlife and birdlife, and the beautiful coastal scenery make it an ideal holiday destination especially for families. The recreational and holidays activities include bushwalks in the rainforest, hanging out at the beach; exceptional fishing from boat, beach, rock, river and shoreline as well as some fantastic places to swim or go surfing. A popular walk is the River Walk which follows the river from Stuarts Point to Grassy Head. There is a limited range of accommodation at Grassy Head including a caravan park, self-contained apartments and units, holiday houses. There is an Ecology Centre nearby and a guesthouse in the forest at Yarrahapinni and a small shopping centre.
