Halls Creek is a small town in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia, located between the towns of Warmun (Turkey Creek) and Fitzroy Crossing on the Great Northern Highway. Halls Creek lies on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert and is the gateway to Purnululu National Park, the park of the famous Bungle Bungles. Also close by is the Wolfe Creek Crater, which the second largest meteorite crater in the world. Tours of the Bungle Bungles and the Wolfe Creek Crater and are available from Halls Creek. Locally you can fossick at the site of the first gold rush in Western Australia in 1885. Visitors can still find gold in the Halls Creek area, especially around the old town site which is 16 m east of Halls Creek and also features historic buildings and a small cemetery. Halls Creek services the local mining and cattle grazing industries. Halls Creek has a wide range of accommodation with a hotel, motel, caravan park and two roadhouses.
