The Forest Products Commission`s Timber Technology Centre is also located at Harvey. The railway station houses The Harvey Historical Society Museum, which showcases the heritage of the area and the historic Stirling Cottage has been converted into a tourist information centre and tearooms. The farms around Harvey produce a wide range of products including vegetables, delicious local fruit, wine, cheese, milk products and some of the best beef in Australia. Harvey lies in the foothills of the Darling Scarp and offers visitors a wide range of activities and attractions including unspoiled beaches, rivers and inlets support many water-based activities such as swimming, white water canoeing and kayaking, bushwalking, beach, boat, shore and freshwater fishing. Harvey has a unique Italian heritage which influences the food, wine, lifestyle and traditions of the area. Close to town is the Harvey Weir, where you can fish for perch and trout, and catch the local marron (freshwater crayfish), and nearby is the renowned trout ladder at Harvey Falls.
