The quiet and friendly holiday town of Hawkes Nest has with river and ocean frontages and supports a large range of holiday and recreational activities. It is situated on the northern shore of Port Stephens, about 200 km north of Sydney and 70 km from Newcastle. Hawkes Nest occurs at the mouth of the Myall River on the opposite side to Tea Gardens. To the East, Hawkes Nest overlooks the ocean with beaches extending northwards into Myall Lakes National Park. Hawkes Nest supports wide range of recreational activities including: surfing, sailing, cruises, boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, scuba diving, snorkelling, wind surfing, kite surfing, waterskiing, fishing, camping, bushwalking and there are many 4WD tracks around the town. There is a wide range of accommodation in Hawkes Nest and houseboats are available for hire.
