One of the jetties is over 4 km long, and is the longest coal loading jetty in the Southern Hemisphere and the second longest in the world. The second jetty is 3 kilometres long and both jetties are great for fishing. The beaches at Hay Point are also excellent fishing spots. Located just south of Hay Point is Half Tide Beach. There is a wide range of accommodation in the Mackay Area.
