Every February Heywood celebrates the Wood, Wine and Roses Festival that features regional competitions for painting, photography, flowers, crafts, general art and woodcraft. There are also bands, parades, Wood chopping events, fireworks, and local food and wine tasting at the Festival. To the north-east of Heywood is Lake Condah. There are several scenic drives to the coast along the Great Ocean Road, through the natural bushland and the Cobboboonee State Forest. Heywood is a great place to use as a base for enjoying all the wonderful array of things to do and see in this part of the great ocean road.
