It is situated about 5 km north of Tully Heads, on the coast east of Tully. Hull Heads is an excellent base for a relaxed and secluded holiday as it is close to Mission Beach, Cardwell and Townsville. There is all-weather access to the Hull River estuary and offshore areas for reef fishing from ramp and pontoon. Local target species include: whiting, mangrove jack, bream, flathead, mud crabs and the renowned Barramundi. An all tide channel runs to the mouth of the Hull River and into Kennedy Bay which has excellent fishing around many of the islands. The area is classified into a variety of Marine Park Zones so you need to check before fishing. The Tully Coastguard operates a safety service from the mouth of the river and you should let them know you plans before heading offshore. There is a range of beachfront accommodation available at Tully Heads and Hull Heads and other towns in the district.
