It lies about 100 km west of Sydney and 40 km south-east of Lithgow, at an elevation of about 1025m. Katoomba has been renowned for more than 100 years for its spectacular mountain scenery, lookouts and extensive bushwalking tracks in the Blue Mountains area. The famous Three Sisters rock outcrop can be seen from Echo Point about 2km south of Katoomba. You can also see Mt Solitary and the Ruined Castle rock formation from the Echo Point lookout. You can take the The Giant Stairway to the valley below and enjoy one of the many nature walks available or varying length and difficulty. Bushwalkers will enjoy the hanging swamps, spectacular sub-tropical rainforest and the many magnificent waterfalls in the valley. Another popular attraction is Scenic World with the Katoomba Scenic Railway and the Scenic Skyway cable car, which traverses part of the Jamison Valley and offers views of Orphan Rock and Katoomba Falls.
