Once par of the Ninety Mile Desert the area was transformed from wasteland into a rich agricultural area using trace elements and good farming practices. To the north is the magnificent Mount Rescue Conservation Park with wonderful views and a variety of flora and fauna. The Ngarkat Conservation Park also has a rich fauna including: rufous-crowned emu-wrens, mallee fowl, dragon lizards, western grey kangaroos and other mammals. The huge park is also popular for 4WD enthusiasts and for camping.
