Kelso Beach at the mouth of the Tamar River is located in the North Central Region of Tasmania about 50 km northwest of Launceston and just a short drive north of Beauty Point. Kelso Beach is an excellent base for exploring the Tamar Valley and all its attractions, facilities and activities. You can go for long walks along the river banks, enjoy the fantastic fishing after launching your boat at Kelso, gather wild oysters on the banks of the Tamar River, visit George Town and Low Head on the opposite side of the river. You can also a game of golf at the 6-hole private golf course at Kelso or take a dip in the swimming pool. Nearby attractions include Narawntapu National Park, river cruises, and Tamar Valley wineries. The Kelso Jetty has oysters to collect, wonderful fishing and also has excellent scenery. For bushwalkers there is a four hour return trip to Badger Head.
