The best place to go swimming at Kingscote is in the Tidal Pool near the jetty. You can also swim at Emu Bay, which is only a very short drive away. Emu Bay has the best and most popular beach on the island, which is over 3 km long and is accessible to all motor vehicles for fishing and surfing trips. The fishing at Kingscote is excellent and the shore, boat and jetty generally produce good catches of King George whiting, garfish, snook, Tommy ruff and other species. Kingscote Pier is the social hub of the town, right on the Esplanade, and boasts shops, hotels, services, cafes, restaurants, and historic features all close by.
