Kununurra is a rural service town in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia, located about 3,000 km north of Perth and only 37 km from the border with Northern Territory. The main farming activities include the growing of melons, mangoes and until recently, sugar cane. Tourism is also very popular focused on the magnificent scenery of the Lake Argyle, Ord River, the Diversion Dam and other local locations, including the more distant Bungle Bungles, Purnululu National Park and the Argyle Diamond Mine. Enjoy the views from Kelly`s Knob Lookout and visit the fascinating Zebra Rock. In the wet season, a popular local swimming hole is Black Rock Falls. The Mirima National Park, known as `Hidden Valley`, is not far from town and features many unusual rock formations in spectacular colours and shapes. Local events include the annual Ord Valley Muster which finishes with the Kimberley Moon Concert on the shores of the Ord River.
