Labrador is a popular residential and tourist area at the northern end of the Gold Coast, overlooking the Southport Broadwater. It is located about 70 km south of Brisbane. Labrador is a fantastic fishing sailing and boating haven and has excellent facilities for many water sports with its calm, shallow and sheltered waters. There is a wide variety of places to stay including flats, resorts, houses, self-contained apartments, home units, motels and a very popular tourist park on the waterfront. The area also offers a wide variety of restaurants in the area and outstanding tourist facilities and attractions. There are a series of fishing platforms installed along the Marine Parade Esplanade at Labrador, between Whiting Street and the Grand Hotel. Each platform has seating and a sail shelter with a nautical theme. This esplanade extends along the shore opposite the Gold Coast Seaway, and it is a very popular spot for fishing with anglers targeting Whiting, Luderick, Bream, Flathead, Squid and other species.
