The Potshot Base which was located close to the Learmouth Airport was bombed during the War by the Japanese. The town of Exmouth was built primarily as a support town for the United States Naval Base, but Exmouth became an extremely popular tourist destination dur to its wonderful range of attractions and activities. Exmouth boasts a wonderful climate, fantatsic fishing, land-based and marine and national parks. The park areas include some of the few fringing coral reefs on the west coast of Western Australia offering excellent diving and snorkeling conditions.
