It lies in a valley on the banks of a small creek. The old wool processing mill, now closed, is used by a number of cottage industry and handcraft businesses. Lobethal was first settled in 1841 by18 families who fled persecution in their native Prussia. The heritage of the town is showcased in the Archives and Historical Museum collection placed around the old Lobethal College, built in 1845. The kids will enjoy the Fairyland Village with 14 separate chalets each based on a different nursery rhyme or fairytale. The Lobethal Bakery is renowned as producing the best German-style bread in Victoria. Also visit the Woodside and Melba`s Chocolate Factory and the Woodside Emporium with 10 rooms of collectibles and antiques.
