Lock is a small rural service town located in the middle of the Eyre Peninsula about 600 km northwest of Adelaide and 300 km southwest of Port Augusta. Due to its central location it is a good base for exploring the array of popular coastal resorts and natural areas in the vicinity. Lock is an important service town for the surround wheat, cereal and sheep farms in the district. There is a range of places to stay including a hotel and a caravan park. It has excellent sporting facilities including bowling greens, an 18 hole golf course, sports oval, tennis courts, swimming pool, licensed sporting complex and a racecourse. The Lock Heritage Museum has a fascinating collection of household goods, farming equipment and photographs is located in the original police station. There are many nature reserves nearby including the Hambridge Conservation Park and the Lock and Hincks Conservation Park.
