Lucinda Beach is a coastal town located at the southern entrance to Hinchinbrook Channel near Ingham and two hours` drive north of Townsville. Lucinda is sugar-exporting town, and it is famous for the 6km-long sugar jetty. Dotted along the beachfront, there are good facilities with sheltered picnic tables, parks, gas BBQs and walking pathways. A stinger net is installed and maintained during the warmer months. For the angler there is no better place than the Hinchinbrook Channel between the island and the coast offers sheltered boating, diving and excellent fishing and the chance to see the threatened dugong. You can also fish from the shore, beach and jetty, as well as the tidal estuaries. The beach is superb, and there is much to see and do in the area including bushwalking, canoeing, kayaking, sightseeing, charter boat cruises and wilderness tours. For the experienced bushwalker, the 4-day walk along Thorsborne Trail on Hinchinbrook Island is worth considering. There are many natural attractions in the hinterland such as Broadwater State Forest Park, Wallaman Falls and the Mount Fox Crater.
